bitFlyer is one of the longest-standing cryptocurrency exchanges, founded in Japan in 2014, where it became a household name in that market. Following its success in Japan, the company launched its operations in the USA in November 2017, followed by Luxembourg in January 2018. bitFlyer is the first cryptocurrency exchange licensed to operate across Japan, the US and Europe combined and has been recognized as one of few exchanges with real trading volumes.

bitFlyer Europe (Luxembourg) has been granted a Payment Institution (PI) license in 2018 and has been the first company to get officially registered as a VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) in Luxembourg in 2021.

bitFlyer USA currently operates in 48 states and territories, including New York, where it holds the famous New York BitLicense.
