On the 3rd of October 2025, the European Securities and Markets Authority published its 2026 Work Programme. ESMA will support the forthcoming strategic developments set out by the European Commission’s Savings and Investments Union (SIU) Strategy, which include harmonising supervisory practices across Member States. Moreover, ESMA will continue to support the implementation of legislative files, such as Regulation 2024/2987/EU (EMIR 3) and Regulation 2023/2859/EU (ESAP). ESMA will ensure it integrates the principles of Simplification and Burden Reduction across its activities, and will follow up on the 2025 ‘flagship’ projects aiming for simplification and efficiencies in disclosure and reporting frameworks. ESMA will also continue focusing on the effective implementation of Regulation 2023/1114/EU (MiCAR), concentrating its supervisory convergence efforts on the authorisation and supervision of crypto-asset service providers.
