On the 20th of May 2026, the European Commission launched its consultation to gather feedback on the functioning of the EU’s crypto-asset regulatory framework, in order to assess whether it needs to be updated in light of market and international developments. The consultation seeks feedback on the main building blocks of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (2023/1114/EU, MiCAR), and includes a public questionnaire for individuals and a targeted questionnaire on more technical and legal questions for stakeholders such as, among others, digital asset issuers and service providers, financial institutions, technology providers, consumer and public interest organisations, and EU public authorities.
Interested stakeholders can submit their comments to the questionnaires until the 31st of August 2026 (midnight Brussels time).
