ESMA launch of its consultation on the criteria to assess the knowledge and competence of CASPs’ staff under MiCAR, 17 February 2025

On the 17^th of February 2025, the European Securities and Markets Authority launched a consultation on the criteria to assess the knowledge and competence of crypto asset service providers’ (CASPs) staff providing information or advice on crypto-assets or crypto-asset services under Regulation 2023/1114/EU (MiCAR). ESMA is seeking stakeholder inputs about, notably, the minimum requirements concerning knowledge and competence of the staff providing information or advice, as well as CASPs’ organisational requirements for the assessment, maintenance and updating of knowledge and competence of the staff.

The deadline to submit comments to the Consultation Paper is the 22^nd of April 2025. Interested stakeholders can submit their comments at the following page. Based on the input received, ESMA will draft the final report for the submission of the guidelines to the European Commission.
