The European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS) has published a study on Blockchain for supply chains and international trade.
Firstly, this study considers the implications of blockchain technology as applied to several fields with the help of a number of case studies. Moreover, it takes into account the current legislative framework. Finally, it considers the future policy options.
Inter alia, the study takes into account cryptocurrencies, the type of blockchain on which they rely, their main advantages and limitations. Specifically, the EPRS focuses considerably on the environmental issues related to public and non-public blockchains, with special regard to the consensus mechanism, highlighting the differences between Proof of Work, Proof of Stake and Proof of Authority.
