On the 26th of June 2026, the European Banking Authority published a consultation paper with a draft methodology to set fines in its role as supervisor under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (2023/1114/EU, MiCAR). The consultation outlines the EBA’s proposed approach to calculate fines where an issuer of significant tokens, or a member of its management body, has negligently or intentionally committed an infringement.

Interested stakeholders can submit their comments to the consultation paper at the following link by the 28th of September 2026.
